Tribunal Awards for unfair dismissal:
The Ministry of Justice have just released some interesting statistics on Employment Tribunal claims, which in general have dropped 15% on last years’ figures:
Tribunals awarded compensation for unfair dismissal in only 21% of cases upheld at a hearing. The median award was just £4,560. In a mere 2% of cases was the award more than £50,000 (and therefore getting near the current cap of £72,300 for compensatory awards).
Representation of claimants by either trade unions or lawyers fell by almost 50% compared to last year’s figures.
